Yeppoon’s new smooth operator is ready to take on the world
12 January 2024 / Agriculture / Food Facts
A firm believer in the power of good nutrition, Yeppoonie Smoothie’s founder, Jacinta Plazzer had been experimenting with powders and blends for decades, prior to launching a range of effective meal replacement smoothie powders into the public arena in 2022.
After being diagnosed with gestational diabetes in 2009 while pregnant with her second child, Jacinta was adamant to stay off medication and manage her diabetes with nutrition under the guidance of the team at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Fast forward to 2024, this health and wellness enthusiast has used her personal life learnings to support others toward their journey for better health and lifestyle and is now ready to expand beyond Australia’s borders and offer her products to the rest of the world.
Perfecting Yeppoonie Smoothie using high quality 100% natural, ethically sourced, and Australian grown ingredients, the home-grown business based in Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast addresses the ever-growing need for 100 per cent natural, vegan, additive-free, and fibre and nutrient-rich products.
Committed to supporting Australian farmers, Jacinta initially launched Yeppoonie Smoothie with three simple blends – Morning, Afternoon and Evening. Following consistent growth, the brand is now jam-packed with a variety of options including a Study and Focus blend, Queensland Sunshine blend, Post Work-Out blend, and East Trinity Cocoa blend.
Looking to the future, Jacinta is keen to grow the number of wholesalers stocking her powders, and to leverage the overseas interest in healthy, wholesome Australian products by going into the export market.
“We already have a loyal and growing customer base in Australia and recently started selling into New Zealand,” Jacinta said.
“This January, we are launching into the USA and then the UK in May.”
As a young business, Yeppoonie Smoothie is committed to giving back and raising awareness of important issues, rather than operating as a ‘corporate machine’.
“Since the beginning I wanted to give back and contribute financially to charities that do not receive government funding,” Jacinta said.
“As Yeppoon and the Southern Great Barrier Reef is home to many turtle friends that find themselves on the wrong side of boat propellers, fishing lines, and other obstacles, we are passionate about supporting local turtle rehabilitation organisations.”
“We recently donated to the Quoin Island Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, who take in sick and injured turtles, caring for them until they can return home to sea.”
“So, we are thrilled to say that by drinking Yeppoonie Smoothie, you are helping to save our local turtles!”
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll congratulates Jacinta for providing her knowledge, passion, and success to the Capricorn Coast region and beyond.
“Yeppoonie Smoothie’s drive towards collaboration and partnership is what small business success is all about and we are proud to see Jacinta’s product grow and develop in such a short time,” Mary said.
“Their locally sourced products, and commitment to working with farmers will place Yeppoonie Smoothie on the Taste Capricorn Coast food trail, which is a collation of local flavours and colourful array of producers, eateries, retail outlets, markets, and farm gate experiences.”
“Taste Capricorn Coast, which was funded as part of the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery Initiative to support the region in response to the 2019 summer bushfires, highlights the diverse and delicious local produce on offer across our destination,” Mary said.
