REKO Yeppoon
REKO Yeppoon officially launched on Wednesday 26th October 2022. REKO Yeppoon is an online farmers market where you can source local products, pay vendors directly and collect your goodies from the Capricorn Coast Information Centre carpark on Wednesday evenings between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
REKO (RA-ko) is an acronym for the Swedish words, “Rejäl Konsumtion” meaning “Fair consumption”. This Facebook-based sales model was started by a Finnish farmer in 2013 as a convenient way to connect to customers.
This is an exciting new producer/consumer concept that is already a great success in Moreton Bay. Each REKO Ring has a private Facebook Group where the producers and makers advertise what they have available to purchase at the weekly pick-up.
REKO Yeppoon was initiated by a group of eight Taste Capricorn Coast agri-food businesses who participated in an E-commerce program to help grow their online presence. Capricorn Enterprise successfully applied for $55,000 funding from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) to help grow the online presence (e-commerce capability) for eight (8) local agri-food businesses. The funding for the Project is part of the Queensland Government’s Economic Recovery Plan and Capricorn Enterprise engaged an external expert to provide one-one-one assistance and implementation for operators within Taste Capricorn Coast, to implement/fund e-commerce measures such as website upgrade, inclusion of an on-line shopping portal, social media improvements, business plan etc.
Visit the REKO FB page for more information about REKO and becoming a vendor.
